Oat Flour Banana Bread (Gluten Free)
Easy and delicious, oat flour banana bread is a healthy take on a classic treat. Made with simple, hearty ingredients, it comes together quickly and will be a new favorite recipe!

It’s no secret that I love snacks made with bananas. From banana muffins, banana and date cookies, to this banana bread, it’s all so delicious. I often get disappointed when my family eats all the bananas before they start to get old and ready for me to bake with.
But as delicious as traditional banana bread is, I just can’t justify all of the white sugar white flour. I knew that I had to create a healthy banana bread recipe that I could feel good about eating and feeding to my family.
Oat flour is my favorite healthy gluten-free flour, and using it to make banana bread was the perfect match. Now banana bread is practically a health food, but still amazingly delicious!

How to Store
After the bread has completely cooled, you can store it tightly wrapped or in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days. While you can eat it cold, it’s best slightly reheated.
Tips for the Best Banana Bread
Use older bananas – Bananas with lots of brown spots have a lot more sugar and flavor. Sometimes I’ll use bananas that hardly look edible! Bananas are still good to bake with until they’re black and/or moldy.
Add walnuts or other add-ins – Walnuts are a classic addition to banana bread! Other chopped nuts or even chocolate chips are delicious as well.
Generously grease the pan – This will help your bread come right out without breaking or sticking.
Don’t over bake – When you insert a toothpick to check for doneness, there can still be a few moist crumbs on it.
Let partially cool before removing from the pan – If you can be patient for 10 minutes, this bread will come out of the pan perfectly.

Yes, oat flour banana bread is a great recipe to freeze! I love making a double batch and putting a loaf in the freezer for later. To freeze, once it has fully cooled, wrap the loaf tightly or place in a ziplock freezer bag, and freeze for up to 3 months. When you’re ready to eat it, thaw in the fridge.

Ingredients
Oat flour – You can use homemade oat flour or store bought. If you need the bread to be gluten free, make sure to use gluten-free oat flour.
Bananas – Older bananas with plenty of brown spots add the most flavor and sweetness to this banana bread.
Avocado oil
Eggs
Coconut sugar – Feel free to substitute brown or white sugar.
Baking soda
Vanilla
Cinnamon – Use high quality cinnamon without additives for the best flavor. Mountain Rose Herbs is my favorite affordable source for organic, premium spices.

How to Make Oat Flour Banana Bread

Step 1: First, preheat your oven to 350 degrees and grease the bottom and sides of a bread pan.
Next, in a medium bowl, whisk together the oat flour, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt.

Step 2: Then, using a large bowl, mash the bananas using a potato masher. If you don’t have one, you can use a fork instead, but the potato masher makes it so much easier.

Step 2: Add the avocado oil, eggs, sugar, and vanilla to the mashed bananas and whisk until it’s well combined.

Step 3: Now stir the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients.

Step 4: Next fold in the walnuts or any other add-ins you are using.

Step 5: Then pour the batter into the greased bread pan.

Step 6: Place the bread pan in the oven and bake for 40-45 minutes, until you can insert a toothpick and it comes out mostly clean with a few moist crumbs.

Step 7: Let the bread cool for 10 minutes before removing it from the pan. To avoid breakage, wait until it’s fully cooled to slice it. Enjoy as a delicious breakfast or snack!
