What I Needed for Years
As a crunchy mom, good skincare can be tricky! Over the years I’ve tried countless brands and DIYs, but everything was either too expensive, didn’t work, or was filled with chemicals I didn’t want on my skin.
Once I started making my own tallow balm, it felt natural to create my own face wash too. Now, I finally have a facial cleanser that’s completely natural and works just as well as the big-name products I’ve tried!
I love how this face wash is moisturizing and gentle for every type of skin, even sensitive skin. I even use it as a body wash for my toddlers, which says a lot about how safe and soothing it is!

Step-By-Step Instructions

Step 1: First, pour the Castile soap, castor oil, and lavender oil into the spray bottle. Often spray bottles come with a small funnel to make this easier, however, it’s not absolutely necessary.

Step 2: Next, fill up the bottle the rest of the way with water and shake to combine.
Step 3: Before each use, shake the bottle and spray 1 – 2 pumps into your hand. Gently lather onto your damp face and rinse with warm water.

Tips for Success
Use undiluted Castile soap – Diluted Castile soap won’t work as well in this recipe and often contains additives you shouldn’t put on your face.
Swap other essential oils – If you love a certain scent or want to take advantage of a benefit of another essential oil, feel free to swap other skin-safe oils for the lavender oil.
Always shake well before using – The ingredients will separate, so you want to make sure to recombine everything each time before using.
Who Can Use this Face Wash
This face wash is made with gentle, non-irritating ingredients, so it’s perfect for people with every skin type, including sensitive skin.
If you want to use it on children, I recommend leaving out the lavender essential oil or reducing it by at least 50%.
Violet’s Tips for Using
For optimal results, use this face wash in the morning and at night before bed. Simply spray a small amount into your hands, lather onto your damp face, and rinse with warm water.
FAQs
Yes, you can substitute the lavender oil in this face wash for any other skin-safe essential oil or essential oil blend.
No, the castor oil in DIY face wash helps to moisturize your skin so it won’t get dry. Also, just like any other face wash, it’s best to follow it with a moisturizer like whipped tallow body butter.

I would suggest using either distilled water or witch hazel rather than plan tap water, which can have impurities and minute bacteria
