  • 1 1/4 cup oat flour certified gluten free
  • 1 1/4 cup almond flour
  • 2/3 cup coconut oil softened
  • 1/2 cup coconut sugar
  • 1/2 cup maple syrup
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.
  • Grease a 9"x13" glass baking dish.
  • Place the apples, tapioca starch, spices, and vanilla in the pan and stir to combine.
3 pounds apples, 1 1/2 tablespoons tapioca starch, 3 teaspoons cinnamon, 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract, 3/4 teaspoon cloves, 3/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • In a large mixing bowl, stir together the oats, oat flour, almond flour, coconut sugar, maple syrup, coconut oil, and salt.
2 1/2 cups rolled oats, 1 1/4 cup oat flour, 1 1/4 cup almond flour, 2/3 cup coconut oil, 1/2 cup coconut sugar, 1/2 cup maple syrup, 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Spread the mixture evenly across the top of the apples.
  • Bake for 40-45 minutes or until the apples are bubbling and the top is just beginning to turn golden brown.
  • Let rest for 5-10 minutes and then enjoy!

Notes

Ingredient Notes

  • Use fresh, juicy apples with a good flavor balance of sweet and tart.
  • You can substitute corn starch for the tapioca starch.

Advance Prep

  • Prep the apples and topping separately and store in the fridge for up to 2 days. When you're ready to bake it, spread the topping over the apples. Let the pan and ingredients come to room temperature before baking as usual.
  • You can also freeze unbaked apple crisp. When you're ready to enjoy it, thaw in the fridge overnight, and then let come to room temperature before baking.

Store

  • Leftover apple crisp will keep in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-5 days. For best results, reheat in the oven.
