Ingredients

  • 3 cups mixed berries fresh or frozen
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup
  • zest and juice from 1/2 lemon

Instructions

  • Place the mixed berries, maple syrup, lemon juice, and lemon zest in a saucepan and bring to a simmer on medium heat.
3 cups mixed berries, 2 tablespoons maple syrup, zest and juice from 1/2 lemon
  • Reduce the heat to low and simmer for about 10 minutes, stirring frequently.
  • Serve warm over your favorite dishes!

Notes

  • You can substitute 2 tablespoons of bottled lemon juice for the fresh lemon juice and zest, but it will slightly impact the flavor.
  • Feel free to increase or decrease the maple syrup to taste. I've even made compote without any sweetener, and it's still delicious!
